SOLAR PV  ·  ENERGY STORAGE  ·  EV CHARGING  ·  COMMERCIAL POWER

I design electrical systems to US code — and build the teams and tools that draw them.

Seventeen years across photovoltaics, battery storage, EV infrastructure and commercial power distribution. Three design teams built from the ground up. Now automating the two deliverables every electrical job repeats — the wiring schedule and the single-line diagram.

CURRENT ROLE Director of Engineering — General Construction, EV & Renewables QC · Pearce Services → CBRE · since Aug 2023 ▾ DETAIL
  • Built and lead the General Construction design group in India — commercial lighting, power distribution and emergency systems in Revit 3D/BIM.
  • Moved delivery from 2D AutoCAD to Revit 3D/BIM.
  • Established the Renewable Energy QC function from 2025 — checklist, reviewer training, and the scoring gate that moved average QC scores from 8.0 to 9.4.
  • Author the company's electrical design standards and the technical-test screens used in hiring.
  • Escalation point for junior engineers and project managers, including teams outside my direct management.
  • Building design automation with AI assistance — NEC calculation engine, single-line diagram generator, code audit engine.

Team building

The Agra branch grew from zero to 35 engineers between 2020 and 2023, about half the company's headcount at the time. It was built to run on a system rather than on supervision — direct college hiring, a technical-test screen, and in-house training against a handbook I made for the team.

35 engineers recruited and trained in Agra between 2020 and 2023.

Every hire screened on a technical test, then trained in-house against a Designer Handbook I made for the team.

Built to run autonomously — delivery proceeded without daily oversight, with only clarifications and genuine technical judgment calls escalating.

Still the escalation point for technical questions from engineers and project managers, including teams outside my direct line.

Design automation

A personal project — built in my own time while testing my AI skills, from publicly available engineering knowledge. I specified the requirements and the calculation logic, and tested the output against completed designs. Building AI-assisted design tooling is also part of my current role's mandate.

Both tools read one equipment record, so the schedule and the drawing cannot drift apart — the single largest source of submittal comments on an electrical package.

TOOL 01

Wiring Schedule Engine

Runs the full sizing chain — design current, temperature correction, conduit-fill adjustment, terminal limits, conductor selection, overcurrent device, equipment grounding conductor, voltage-drop check. Stops at the missing input rather than assuming one. Exports a formatted Excel workbook and a print-ready PDF.

TOOL 02

Single-Line Diagram Generator

Builds the drawing straight from the schedule: equipment placed by level, conductors routed and tagged, note column, string table and title block populated. Writes standard DXF — opens in AutoCAD and free viewers, and consumes no CAD seat. Large systems split across sheets with cross-reference arrows.

ON METHOD

This website was built the same way as the tools above — I set the structure and wrote the text; the code is AI-assisted.

03

Quality control

Set up the renewables QC function — the checklist, the reviewer training, and the scoring gate that made review consistent between reviewers. Average design score moved from 8.0 to 9.4. Also author the company's electrical design standards and the technical-test screens used in hiring.

04

Knowledge & skills

The codes I design to, the software I design in, and the stack I build tooling with — all of it applied on the drawing sets and tools shown above.
